F1 » 'Far from ridiculous' Grosjean fixed on F1 return in 2011

Despite having had to make way for former Barwa Addax GP2 Series team-mate Vitaly Petrov at Renault F1 this year, Romain Grosjean reveals that he is fully focussed on a return to the grand prix grid in 2011 - arguing that he 'deserves' to be there

You don't lead the GP2 Series without being seriously talented. No driver could realistically succeed as the new-boy in such a troubled team, under new management and with a disinterested team-mate (who doesn't exactly have a reputation of getting on well with team-mates). Look at the progress Alguersuari is now making in his first full season.

Alguersuari is doing better and Petrov is doing OK simply because they were able to run 1000s of kilometers during the pre season testing, a luxury that Romain did not have yet he was alrady better than Piquet II who enjoyed two pre season testing periods !

Grosjean could not keep his drive because he was managed by Briatore which was not the ideal situation at Renault at the end of 2009 and of course couldn't concur against the opportunity that Vitaly represents for the Anglo-French outfit. Not saying that VP isn't a good driver either.

The kid has talent, he's proved on many occasions like beating Prost on only his second Andros race and the pace he just displayed in GT1.

Come on! Far from ridiculous??? Not so far, really. Listen to yourselves, dreamy Europeans, and snap out of it! He's nobody and he never will be anybody in racing. I rate him well below Scott Speed, and I rate the guys at Red Bull that followed Speed certainly no better than Speed. Liuzzi is not better than Speed. Want to give a good driver a chance, try Anthony Davidson, he deserves it. Grosjean is off the scale -- off the lower end of it! Don't quit your day job Romain! If you have a regular way to get a paycheck and attract some puzzy, stick to it Romain, because F1 is not the way for you.
