F1 » Symonds being lined up for F1 return – with Williams

Whilst remaining banned from any operational role in the top flight until 2013, it seems 'Singapore-gate' protagonist Pat Symonds could return in a consultancy role with Williams in F1 2011

I think what 2010 may prove more than anything is that the head of design is the most critical person with Adrian Newey repeating his glory years at McClaren. These guys should be getting paid twice what the drivers are. It's really hard to tell how key Pat was in Renauts last championship but you have to suspect pretty key, in which case we could see Williams get a boost from this in a couple of years time. I would love to see that, back to the Mansel and Piquet Era!

Saw this news the other day and it certainly wouldnt be a bad move for Williams, regardless of what people thing of his transgressions. Its interesting that the same source that came out with this news is saying today that Williams are in serious talks with Renault for the use of their engines next season.

Were Renault not supportive of P.s over the whole issue and more focused on ridding themselves of FB???
