F1 » EDITOR'S VIEW: Is Fernando worth it?

The best driver in the field, a flawed genius, a spoilt, over-rated prima donna - opinions are divided about Fernando Alonso, but is the Spaniard really worth the mega-bucks Ferrari is paying him..?

also Massa was only 1 place ahead of Alonso so that says something Massa loves it at turkish gp 3 wins out of 5, Alonso said Ferrari have just fallen behind in the developments got some big upgrades in the next 2 races.

Fernando is definitely worth it.
Every top driver is as good as his car and every good car is as good as its driver. Take Sebastian Vettel as an example - good car reckless driver. How many races has Hamilton won this season? Only the one that has been gifted to him last Sunday in Turkey.
Yes definitely, Fernando has made a number of mistakes this season, the worst one being the unforgivable jump start in Shanghai, but the main basis for the lack of results is also attributable to the under performance of the Ferraris compared to the Red Bulls, the McLarens and even now the Mercedes'.

If Ferrari want to win they have to give Fernando a better car. They can do it.

Reminds me of Sport News channel in 95 when MS left for Ferrari. How long did it take for him to be WDC? now for alonso, well we know British press hates his guts so no big deal for this to be here. more Miller news please...

Is Lewis Hamilton worth it? What about the uproar when Lewis overtook Vettel in the pitlane? What has Lewis done since 2008 when the championship was handed to him on silver platter? What is with the constant attacks on Fernando?

Fernando is still the man behind the wheel of an F1 car but the pressure of driving for Ferrari is clearly getting to him. The fact that he won the 1st race of the season has added even more pressure because he hasn't done it again and is clearly trying very hard which is causing him tomake mistakes. This championshipis soooooo tight that the drivers are scratching

Most F1 drivers are only as good as the car underneath them. The car's 80% of the deal and right now, Alonso is driving a car that has fallen behind on developement when compared to the Maccas, The Bulls, The Mercs and even the Rennies.

When Ferrari picks up their game (which I imagine will be within the next few races), Fernando will be facilitated to pick up his.

Ask the question then.
