F1 » Renault eyeing Raikkonen to replace Petrov in 2011?

Despite having seen the Red Bull Racing door slam shut in his face, former F1 World Champion Kimi Raikkonen could yet be thrown a lifeline for a return to top flight competition in 2011, it seems - with Renault

Kimi should stay in the WRC - he's happier there than in F1. And the results will come.
Renault should stick with Petrov - he's talented and quick, and it's his rookie season so yes there will be mistakes, but again the results will come if he's given time. I thought the new Renault regime might be a bit more patient than Briatore, but apparently not. Sutil would be a good choice for them, though he's no slouch in a Force India either. A definite opening for di Resta if Sutil moves on though. Will he want to leave FI though, as they are in the ascendancy?

I think Renault can continue dreaming about it but it wont going to happen. Kimi has quite clearly stated that he isn't interested in driving in a mediocre car just for the happiness of driving a F1 car.

He want to challenge himself and he wants to win.

As long as he is getting better in WRC and he thinks there is a change he can in the future compete with the topguys he is going to stay there. And of course as long as Red Bull are happy to buy him a top car... but they seem to be quite happy about his marketing value...

Renault may be a top team again by the end of this year on next. As good as Merc. And Kimi considered Merc. He may still end up in Merc next year as a replacement for Schumi.
Reaults finances must have improved if they aim for Kimi who wouldnt be cheap.

I dont think Sutil is a good option but seems to be the best of the rest. He is in a car as fast as Renault, OK in Q3 but then fades away. See point difference between him and Kubica.

:rolleyes:oh no! Formula 1 dont need Kimi Raiikonen.

Renault need to give the drive to young and up coming drivers not 'passed it' driver like Kimi or Jacque Villeneuve1

Stay away and improve your rallying Kimi

Goodbye :-o
