F1 » Barrichello: Valencia shows Williams 'heading in right direction'

Rubens Barrichello more than doubled Williams' points tally in F1 2010 to-date with a brilliant fourth place in the European Grand Prix in Valencia - and now the team's goal is to 'consolidate' that progress next time out on home soil at Silverstone

Yeah I've got to echo those comments Ed, Rubens, Williams and Cosworth have made a big push in the right direction. I think it's just great to see Rubens even at the age of 38 still having the fire and hunger to achieve more success, despite not being in a winning car at present. I can honestly see him staying in F1 for two more seasons yet. Unlucky to Hulkenberg losing that point for tenth near the end due to his exhaust failure, I thought he did a pretty good job too!

Call me a sour puss but I don't see any major difference here, sure they have developed and are closer to Force India and Mercedes. However I feel that Valencia probably suited their car nicely and as for Barrichello's 4th, that was pure SC luck. 8th or 9th would have been more representative of his true pace, and probably where he would've ended up had it not been for Webber's crash.

RB's 4th was one of the many inherited places in the last race, it sure wasn't representative of the step forward Williams made, but they did made a step forward never less.
As to Cosworth, there were strong complains about its driveability and degradation, both Williams and lotus are rumoured eyeing a supply of Renault V8'S in 2011.

This is the story of Williams for the past 5 or years. Timmy is actually spot on. Nothing has changed here and they were actually lucky to finish 4th. HOWEVER - this is exactly where they should be finishing most weekends. Sure a few guys dropped out, but isn't that the case on most weekends. Williams car is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. The team is just so poorly lead that they continually drop the ball. This weekend they got more right than wrong and it delivered a result. Most weekends they just get more wrong than right and don't get the result. Chances are they will revert straight back to their poor results. The reason being they don't know why they came 4th. Car? Mabye!

a couple of races ago, williams appeared to be tumbling towards the back of the field into the clutches of lotus, even the two cars making q3 yesterday left you thinking if one of those cars finishing tenth or eleventh would have been a good result, but then this, kobayashi was good, rubens was just a little bit better,
