With the Dwarf one moment it's Russia, then it's India, then it's France now it's South Africa just how many races does he want in the F1 calender or is it a crude attempt attempt to ramp up the sanction fees for each event from circuit owners? the only current race that looks decidely "iffy" is the Turkish round(can't see anyone allowing Shanghai to fail)so can only assume he wakes up in the morning and thinks "thats a good idea",mouths off about it before he has taken his medication!!!

It was disappointing to see the numbers of empty seats in the stadiums in the World Cup. I doubt that a South African GP would attract sell-out crowds. I think it would only be viable if it was another state-funded marketing showcase event.

Agreed that it would be a load of cash to host! But SA could do with some top class motorsport, Kyalami already has WSBK (for now/maybe), so I think Cape Town could be good.

As for the empty seats during the soccer, that lies solely at the door of FIFA and Match, there were thousands and thousands of people constantly trying to get tickets for the games and the system always showed the games as sold out. This was not a fault of the locals trying to go to the games, but bad management by FIFA. For once as a South African I can say Im really proud of what we achieved, and bringing F1 here would only add to what is a sports mad country, now for the Olympics...

@ Alan D - Tickets for an F1 GP in South Africa would sell out in a day. South Africans are crazy about F1 and starved of international motorsport. The problem is that building a new circuit in Cape Town would cost the earth. It won't happen.
