A true sportsman and very professional to such a level headed view of Hockenheim 1999. It would be easy for him to be bitter and mouth off.

It is a pitty Ferrari didn't keep him for 2000. He is probably one of the most underrated F1 drivers I can think of.

Aye but for how long. Never really left, just looking at cutting down a bit on there - it's getting pretty predicable as some need to remember to leave the ego at the door. There is one guy who regularly hunts me down it seems. In fact they decided to have a go because I responded to a couple post re the Marlboro barcode! I think they have one of the moderators on speed dial.

@john-A very good well balanced argument elequently presented thus.As you rightly say,Salo was probably the best nearly man F1 almost had.I recall watching the two Mikas in British F3 and there was nothing between them.Both nice guys and whilst i don't begrudge Hakkinen his success,it seems a shame Salo didn't get the breaks to be able to emulate his compatriot.
