I was just pondering this on another thread before I saw this one. Do you think the Merc board will take any comfort from the fact that the Merc-powered Mclaren is doing well? Do you think they say "If we can't win the championship, let's hope another Mercedes powered car does" or do you think they hate the fact that a customer team is doing better than the works team?

Brawn capitalised last yr on weaknesses of rivals and one innovation that was allowed to be used..I don't see much innovation at Merc for the future. Can MS weave some magic in developing next yrs car? Will Pirelli give MS the tyres he needs to attack the corners? We will know within 2 races next season.

@Alan D, I dont know about Mercedes but Rob White the Technical director for Renault seems thrilled with what RBR is/has accomplished with their powerplant. I would imagine any manufacturer would prefer to see their team do better but....beggers cant be choosers right?

Unfortunately they are missing 2 vital ingredient and thats Vettel and Hamilton, with them 2 racing for Merc next year they could win a title but there's no chance that's happening

Eddie, thanks for that info. I hadn't heard that. Its good to know that Renault appreciate a Renault-engined car doing well, even if its not the factory car.

According to JET's predictions at the start of the year, Mclaren should be having yard sales by now to try to raise some money for spare parts because once Merc money and expertise had gone they would have nothing left. Right now I think the Merc boardroom must be praying for Mclaren to get back on top of the WDC so that Merc can take something away from the season and not go the same way as Honda, BMW, Toyota etc, a big manufacturer spending big bucks and just not getting it right.

What Haug really means is that HE has the ingredients to a chocolate cake that he hopes to bake during the month break. We cant have the big man going hungry for the next 4 weeks now can we
