This is surely a no brainer for Renault?
Lets face it, it's very very rare for Kimi to take enough of an interest in ANYTHING to get involved in doing something, but for him to actually get in touch with Renault to sound out a seat shows that he wants it. Petrov has done a fair job this year, but the lack of consistance & school boy errors are a worry, and for a team like Renault, they need both driver consistantly scoring points to boost their constructors position.
I understand that Petrov will come with the backing and the marketing aspect of Russia, however you would think that having the 2007 world champion on board, and a line up as strong Kubica & Raikkonen would lead to greater interest from sponsors.
And if they are set to replace Petrov, Kimi must be a stronger option than Sutil...
My one hope (as a Raikkonen fan) is that Kimi realises that this move would be for the greater good of his career and could open further doors to bigger teams in the future, and so takes a smaller

...salary to make him more attractive to Renault... Hell if were him i'd offer to do it for free, he's had a season of double salary from both Ferrari & Redbull/Citroen, & im sure he will still get some income from personal sponsors like RedBull & DNA.
C'mon Renault... MAKE THIS HAPPEN!

Apparently Mastercard are interested only if they get Raikkonen on-board for 2011. He might also bring Nokia with him...

The fact that Raikkonen contacted Renault shows that he is at least still interested in F1. All the talk about F1 being a closed book was probably to get the media to stop asking him about it every 5 mins!!!

I think the biggest problem is money. Could Renault afford Kimi? I read somewhere Kimi wants 20m euro, Robert gets 3x less than that.

I would think Kimi could afford one year with lower fees in Renault (his only option in F1). There may be different opportunities after next year when MS and MW leave.

Taz, I agree RB will have to make some changes if they dont win this year.
They have 2 drivers that make a lot of mistakes. I know Seb is young and may improve but then he may not. Other young drivers like Kubica, Rosberg even Hulkenberg are not making so many errors.

Thre may be changes after or during the next year.

Kimi and Kubcica at Renault that would be the best driver line up in many years. Cobalt is right though about Kimi's pay...he would have lower his demands or RB will cough up part of his salary.
