F1 » Ecclestone, Hamilton push for Chandhok to be given 'a better car'

Having impressed many with his attitude, approach and commitment in his ten grands prix to-date, currently inactive Hispania rookie Karun Chandhok should be given 'a better car' in F1 2011, say two of the sport's biggest names

Well, he definitely deserves A car, since he was basically kicked out for Yamamoto this year. Chandhok performed better than Yamamoto. Everything seems to be about money.

Ecclestone doesnt really care what car KC is in. He just wants an indian driver for the indian race to increase the popularity of F1 in india to pocket some more money.

Even so I was highly impressed with KC and he does deserve better. He may not have set the world alight in junior classes but he consistantly matched or perhaps beat Bruno. Now he is on the sidelines like the rest of us watching Yammamoto lap 3 seconds slower than the other new teams.

Its a sad state of affairs when a Japanese sponsor would rather see a second-choice Japanese driver in the car than see the best available driver in the car. It says they are really not interested in F1 as a sport, only as a mobile billboard. It emphasises that F1 is not a meritocracy. I can't think of any other "sport" where the world championship is contested not by the best, but by the ones chosen by sponsors for their advertising potential.

I think karun is perfect example of how putting your head down and working hard, not spitting dummies, wins you respect.I remember, when he first came to f1 everyone was out there shouting how undeserving he was. But now he has become one of the more likeable and dare i say respected drivers not driving in f1 currently.thats because of his personality and attitude i would say and some also good bits of driving skills .

Not taking any merits away drom Chandhok but BE supporting him?
Maybe because of the new Indian GP? Sponsors? 1Billion consumer market/country? $$$? hello??????
Santander + Ferrari = Alonso
New Russian sponsor + Renailt = Petrov maybe
It IS (unfortunately all about $), get over it.

bernie is talking up chandhok as he is pals with his father. why isnt he talking up all the other backmarkers, who possibly also would do better if in a better car. as you all have said, MONEY! maybe we should rename bernie as GOLDFINGER.
