Ostensibly as a precursor to an announcement that it has struck an engine-supply and technical agreement with Renault for 2011, F1 2010 newcomer Lotus has officialised the end of its current partnership with Cosworth

I'm lost..

If you have "a succesful season, excellent performance,reliability" and support from your engine supplier, surely you would cling on to that like grim death especially if you wanted to "solve reliability and performance issues unrelated to the Cosworth engine"

Unrelated to the engine yes but the gearbox and drivetrain no...just the usual pr speak to protect what Cosworth are renowned for, their engines.
I really don't know why they didn't just say,'Cosworth have been adequately paid off.'

But if they move to Renault, they get gearbox as well, which is whats giving them the problems at the moment... Its a package, not just engine... And it is a better engine too...
