Hardly surprising...

Heidfield is overrated. Its why he didnt get a drive this year, he's distinctly average...

Maybe he'll get an Hispania drive next season....

I recall a number of posters here welcoming back Peter Sauber in the wake of BMWs demise as a 'gentleman' but it appears that his financial situation is dictating his team management more than any sporting notions.

Perez is not a bad driver. However, he was clearly chosen for the financial benefits of the deal.

A new face in F1 and the financial backing of a team who needed it badly to survive is not an entirely bad thing.

I'm just glad Sauber will still be around next season.

Say what you wanna say about Sauber, but the guy is a sly fox and knows what to do to get things done. The fact of the matter is that Sauber sold the team to BMW and when they pulled out, he could have said screw it, I got my money and I don't need this agrivation, but he went back to save the team to save PEOPLE'S JOBS. He didn't have to, and now he continues to do what he needs to do to keep the team afloat and keep people employed. I would not be surprised to see Slim buy out Sauber in a year or two. Right or wrong, moral or immoral, he is doing what he needs to do to keep the employees employed! It makes no sense for a team to disband and people lose their jobs because "he didn't do the right thing"

matt. "heidfeld is overrated". that may be your opinion, but he is still a hell of a lot better than half the current grid, and probably in the top ten.

anyway, it was carlos slim who has paid for perez. slim was reported to be trying to buy sauber, and i reckon he has just bought a large percentage. pity, i admired sauber, but iknow that he was tiring of the pressure, and was contemplating selling out anyway.

Wow! I guess this is what loyalty to a team will get a driver, a slap on the back and then a kick in the butt. Heidi deserves better than that and I still believe he would've done a better job than Schumi at Mercedes if he had been given the drive. Hopefully Heidi will secure a drive next year because he definitely would have done better than Pedro DLR this year.
I can't blame Sauber though, after all, he is running a business and must do what he feels is right to ensure it survives. I do hope this isn't the last year Heidi competes in F1, he deserves a shot with someone.

I think Perez is a good driver and way cheaper than Heidfeld for Sauber considering the welcome input of moulah from Telmex.

Anyway, Perez kicked fellow Dutchman Giedo van der Garde's behind this year in GP2 and showed very good pace throughout the year. A bit erratic at times but it will be an exciting line-up to watch with Kamui and Sergio.

I've always backed Heidfeld for a good seat as he has always performed well against Raikkonen, Massa, Webber and Kubica yet never got a really good car. However, his window has pretty much ran out. Hew got snubbed bu McLaren at the start of his F1 carreer and it haunted him ever since. Also, he seems to be quite boring on and off track which I'm sure didn't help.

Btw van der Garde was Hollands hope for an F1 drive and he isn't a bad driver with a WSbR title and GP2 race wins to his name, plus has the backing of Telfort which helps...He also did reasonably in GP2 last year, but Perez really killed him this year on track so I really think Sergio might be the business.

Money talks i guess, sauber may regret not having heidfelds experience of the new pirelli tyres though, they may have been wiser to give SP a reserve role for next year and let him do the friday sessions while letting NH develop the car to suit the new rubber
