F1 » Massa, Ferrari insist Felipe is 'a number one driver'

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has rubbished notions that Felipe Massa is a 'number two' driver at Maranello, as the Brazilian warns if he is turned into a 'second Rubens Barrichello', he will walk away

What a crock! If Ferrari truly considered him as their #1 driver, then they never would have signed Alonso. Even though Massa almost died for his employer, I remember Ferrari trumpeting Alonso's arrival at the start of this season. Sure, Ferrari was relieved that Felipe recovered, but having to keep the wraps on Alonso's arrival for a year couldn't have been easy for Ferrari. Two driver championships by Alonso (possibly three) compared to none for Felipe will keep him as the #2 driver at Ferrari. Massa will either have to leave or settle, he really has no other options.

Luca may say what he likes but Philipe was never employed by Ferrari to win the WDC - only to win the WCC.

The highest paid Ferrari driver always believes he has first option to the WDC and gets Ferrari support.

Yeah, and like they said. They didn't use team orders. Massa was just sad his car was slow. You can tell when Ferrari are lying. Their lips are moving. What a load of crap. Do they think everyone is stupid.

It may be clear that Ferrari consider Alonso their better bet to win the WDC, this year and in the future (and they may well be right), but Ferrari just want to win, and if Massa consistently outperforms Alonso from the off next season, then I have no doubt they'll support Massa. They just want to win, it won't matter to them how or who.

Is not time to be patriot Massa, Rubens was always moaning about being slower than Schumacher but he never cares why he was slower(In karting, sometimes, he could beat Schumacher, so how he couldn't beat him in F1?). And as di Montezemolo says, you will be number 2 at least at the end of the season.
