F1 » Heidfeld manager 'confident' for 2011 – but likely not for Renault

He might have again been left unsure about his future following Sauber's decision to complete its driver line-up with Sergio Pérez in 2011, but recent F1 returnee Nick Heidfeld's manager hints at other irons in the fire...

Well good luck getting a seat. Nicks manager is 'confident' but if I remember correctly, he was confident last year that Nick would get a drive in 2010, and we know how that turned out. Besides, what good seats are left?

Possible seat at lotus
HRT....who knows
One possible Renault seat
A vague very outside chance of a Merc seat
Liuzzi's seat at FI
No idea how safe Di Grassi's seat is at Virgin

There are a few still.

No for Renault.

Apparently his "tire knowledge" is not so valuable because afterall when they ask him how the hard tires are, he will tell them they are hard, and when they ask about the soft, he will say they are soft. Tires react differently for different cars and in different conditions, that's why the teams test and there are practices every morning. Adios Nick, nice to know you. Maybe him and Delarosa can form a new team with the four eyed villenue. That 70s show look will be missed, it is quite hip. rolling eyes emoticon

renault will either retain petrov or go for sutil, who'd probably take the seat. i reckon nick may get the seat at force india but i'd prefer klien to get it. immediately going 1-2 seconds quick than senna was a feat no doubt and i reckon he's naturally a quicker driver than heidfeld is. but as i was saying, with di resta pretty much guaranteed to get promoted, FI need an experienced driver which is what they'd have in nick. lotus should look at getting either heidfeld or klien though because i don't think trulli has it anymore. it rang true to me when trulli couldn't beat kovalainen when he had better equipment than him (jarno has major reliability issues so lotus gave him the upgrade and that didn't work for him. heikki has been best of the new drivers this year easily imo)
