F1 » Ferrari: 'Unlucky' Massa 'will be the surprise of last three races'

Making a point of defending the under-fire Felipe Massa for the costly start-line error that took both himself and Vitantonio Liuzzi out at Suzuka, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo contends the Brazilian can be 'the surprise of the last three races' of F1 2010

So you say that "Massa Will Be THe Surprise?"
In my view that statement supports the belief that Massa indeed was always treated as a number 2 inside the team and that the true package that could have made him a real contender for the title was kept away from Massa and all given to Alonso.NOW with Three races left and Alonso needing help at the front you give Massa access to all the "good bits"!!!! Imagine the conversation, "Massa these parts we're giving you now will get you to the front but only for you to attack Vettel and Webber so Alonso can win"

I am sorry for Felipe who was certainly not lucky this weekend but I am sure that he will be the surprise of the last three races of the season. After this bad day, he will be desperately keen to react and we will do everything to give him the possibility to win.
After this statemant by LDM. The question that goes through my mind is
Has Felipe beeen given some kind of an ultimatum that he has to meet a certain standard by the end of the seasion or he is out of the door?
Because watching him in the last few races Felipe seems to be overdriving the car and not driving with the flow he has shown in the past when he was in a comfortable position in a team.

"we will do everything to give him the possibility to win."

Note the carefully chosen words. Implication, he is to only win if el burro cannot.

Well I wouldn't read it as a huge vote of confidence.

In football when the chairman comes out and gives his manager some backing you know it's a different story behind the scenes.

I really do like Felipe but he's been poor this year and since Germany he's not really been bothered....why would he  Ferrari won't get the constructors title and why help Alonso over the line.....

Looks like Massa has totally lost motivation after waking up to the smell of coffee and after reading the small print in his contract the he even has to warm the toilet seat for Alonso ! !
