Webber is an excellent journeyman driver. After years in rides which couldn't showcase his talent he finally has a shot at the title. No for pay driver would still be around for as many years as Webber if they didn't bring something to the table. In Webbers case it's the ability to develop the car and win races. I for one would be very pleased if Mark won his first well earned championship this year.

Webber is a strong driver, in the past he has been a terrible racer with his block and shove moves, but he does not "deserve" to win unless he wins.

For the team to abandon Vettel when the race is so close is just a grasp at wishful thinking at best especially when Vettel is the faster of the two and has every bit of a chance for the title as Webber, Alonso, and McLaren does.

Webber was Heidfelds teammate at Williams...trashed.
Webber was Rosberg's teammate at Williams...trashed.
Webber was Coulthard's teammate at RedBull...both trashed by Vettel in the Toro Rosso slower car...

Last year he did a nice season considering his problems in preseason.

But in 2010 we have a Webbo that has maximized his chances one after another...his Barcelona and Monaco performances are enought to me to say he can be a worthy 2010 WDC.

Its not a question of how much underrated he is but of how much he has adapted to his car's increased speed.

His past mediocre results are there and his bright present as well...as his teammate's stupid mistakes all season long.

The reality is that all the grid would dream to drive for RedBull in 2010 and half of them would be WDC by now having this SUPERIOR CAR under their asses... the rest is just following the winners path like Minardi's doing here.

How does the author of this article figure Vettel "dominated proceedings" at Suzuka? He finished a second ahead of Webber in the race and Webber had the fastest lap of the race. You have an interesting idea of what it is to "dominate" a race. Otherwise, I agree with the comments that Webber is underestimated, but that has helped put him in the position he's in, right now. However, I don't think anyone in a competing car underestimates him, going into these last three races.

@pcxmac: totally agree with you

webber is a great personality and a very nice guy. guess (nearly) everybody would be fine with him winning the crown this year.

but i can't stand people who moan that he should get the help of his teammate. vettel is fast as well - so if webber can do it i want him to do it by himself. anything else would leave a bitter taste ..

I would luv to see Mark do it on his own and win another race which I believe he can but I don't think anyone is really moaning here. There are many people out there who believe if the roles were reversed at the present time within RB that the team orders would be different. If there was any chance a rival team could beat Seb then Mark would be asked to move aside. Its quite obvious that RB could have almost guaranteed both championships by now and would have if Seb was in-front however they are still holding onto that thread that the roles may reverse.
Actually now come to think of it I'm wrong. There is no way in H*ll either driver would give way so may the best driver win.

Pre race meeting....
Horner: Ok boys I dont want to see any bang ups out there between you two, so whoever is in front at the first corner leads till the finish. CoughuntilCoughpitstopscoughthencoughwe'llcoughsomehowcoughgetcoughsebcoughincoughfrontcoughagain
Mark: Whats that Horny?
Horner: Nothing Mark, just a bit of a cough I picked up.
Sebastard: Ha Ha
Mark: Coughfukwitzcough
