If stepping up means, taking advantage of other people's problems... then great he is doing fantastic!

However.... he is still not faster than the top 5 and not mixing it in... he needs to be taking points off them when they are in the race, not when they have a DNF or problems.

Felipe Massa has a pretty good record with Ferrari, and should have been World Champion in 2008 having comprehensively been the better driver. Hamilton won because of Massa's bad luck not his own ability.
To say he only finished third because of retirements, is plain daft. He did not make mistakes, others did.

All his career Massa has been under rated and belittled by people who do not recognise real talent, and for some reason think he is unworthy of his place with Ferrari.
Well in my opinion those people are just plain......

Bob Bull....

I will agree to Massa being a championship contender in 2008, but you cant say it was bad luck that cost it, he shot himself in the foot in the first 2 races with a crash and spinning off in the lead... eitherway the past is in the past so i'm not starting an arguement on that.

However.... this year, he has not been as fast as he was.... however I always stated that he was only good due to Rob Smedley practically telling him how to drive.

In 2008 he was able to keep up with Hamilton, however he has not this year, and is normally 0.5 seconds slower than Alonso... sorry make that the top 5 contenders.

Thats why I dont think he has stepped up as he only took points off people who DNF'd

Richard... about to make my 2nd arguement to you in as many minutes!

Schu and Hamilton at least looked racey.... Massa didn't, we will never know what results they would have had had the others not retired... but Hamilton and Schu looked more likely to over-take compared to Massa.

james, i wasnt speaking out either for or against lulu and schumi. i posted in answer to another posters comment. but nobody could predict what might have happened. massa could well have held up schumi, and maybe have got past lulu. its all speculation

massa lost the world championship because of the race that piquet crashed deiberately in the wall, and alonslow just happened to have been the only driver to pit before the safety car came out and subsequently won.So you could say alonslow's points cost massa the world title.I dont know how he can stand to breath the same air as alonslow let alone step up to the plate for him.i would shove his plate where the sun dont shine.
