F1 » Whitmarsh: Todt doing good job


Martin Whitmarsh: Jean Todt has played a good role. He's busily and quietly reforming the FIA in the background, which has probably caused some discomfort within that organisation. I think he hasn't used F1 for his personal platform and his own promotion, and I think that's very, very positive.

Bernie won't like hearing a FOTA head is in cahoots with Todt. It's goes against what Max and Bernie did for years. Keep the teams fighting each other constantly and they could do whatever they wanted.

Hated him at Ferrari and wanted Vatanen for the top job - that said we've hardly noticed he's in the job and the last 12 months have been relatively free of controversy. He seems to be bringing some welcome stability to the sport without needing "Max style" ego trips ever few months...
