F1 » Rumour mill suggests it isn't Hülkenberg in danger at Williams...

Having initially been Nico Hülkenberg's Williams seat in doubt for 2011 due to the team's funding issues, it now appears the ultra-experienced Rubens Barrichello may not be entirely safe, either...

Williams would be crazy to let go of Rubens, hes proven himself many times both this year and previously, lets hope they dont make a bad move.. money is one thing, but pay drivers NEVER work out in the end... only begins a downward spiral for the team.. Talent should win every time

Rubens will surely be with Williams next year, he has so much experience and is also a very quick driver. Remember last year he was pushing for the championship at one point, but couldn't do so much with a less focus from the team than what cadburys buttons was getting.

What's to say that they won't bring in Pastor as a #3 driver? They can offer to bring him in slowly. They need the $15 million, but if he is like Petrov, what is the sense of getting 15 mil and rebuilding the car every other race?

If Barry Cello's seat really is under threat then it marks the beginning of the end for Williams as it proves that they just want to participate rather than win. As Sir Frank would sooner sell up than let this happen then this must be a non story- unless Barry's fiscal demands for 2011 are unpaletable that is.

Hulkenberg is not that far behind Rubens, on his rookie year he can be as fast as hugely experienced team mate.

Keep NH, invest in young drivers, RB had his time.

I dont really want to listen any more to RBs petty arguments with MS.

I think a sensible approach is to bring in Maldonado as a 3rd driver and let him have Friday FP1, much like FIF1 is doing with Paul Di Resta. This would allow Williams to keep Rubins who is well know for his setup knowledge of the car and help push with development. This will also allow Hulk to really prove his salt to see if he can improve on his rookie season. If this does happen, hopefully Hulk will be smart enough to be a sponge and soak up as much knowledge as he can from Rubins.

I do not feel Maldonado's 15M will really help the team that much. Williams has bigger issues in finding new title sponsors as they are set to lose millions with so many of them leaving after this season. Sad to say but 15M in the world of F1 really doesn't add much to a teams overall budget.

Rubins Barrichello - the bitterist driver in the history of F1.

Long overdue a retirement methinks. After his "blah blah blah" hissy fit was time to go. Now he is just a has been / never was clogging up the grid preventing a more talented driver into F1.

it really makes no sense to keep rubens because he has been around the longest. I would imagine that his wage is quite high and he is statistically f1's worst starter. don't get me wrong I am a massive rubens fan, he is an f1 legend and it would be sad to see him exit the sport in these circumstances. it would be foolish of him to not have a back up plan with all these highly sponsored drivers knocking at the door for a seat. good luck rubens
