F1 » Was Button an intended kidnap victim in Brazil..?

As he reflects on the 'terrifying' ordeal in which he was faced with up to six gun-wielding assailants in Brazil at the weekend, Jenson Button admits he hopes he wasn't a deliberate target - but his father John is not so sure...

i'm sorry, but it's just amazing how everyone got it so wrong... You know nothing about what's going on in this country, so don't even bother replying.
Jenson says the B-Class isn't even a "flash car", and that there are flashier cars around these streets. Obviously he doesn't wander these streets very often. Do you actually think a Mercedes, any Mercedes, is a common sight in streets of... Brazil ?? This isn't Germany. Plus, the Interlagos circuit is located in one of the poorest (and therefore most dangerous) sights in Sao Paulo. What you'll see is a parade of old VWs, Fiats, Chevys and so on. No Mercedes Jenson, even this "cheap" one you were on.
Papa Button thinks it was set-up. No, it wasn't. Anyone stupid enough to drive around THAT neighborhood in a Mercedes-Benz (yes, even the cheap one) WILL get robbed. It's just the natural course of events.
And to close up Sir Jackie says it may have something to do with the drug cartel. May ? Really ? You can't pick up a quarter from the si

Fabio, so if you drive a flashy car you need a gun to your head. Get real. Take the race from Interlagos if that is the attitude and I am sure the area will get cleaned up quickly by their own ilk. Street rats running the city. Very sad.

If only something could be done to improve the lives of those living in slums, then perhaps they wouldn't need to turn to crime to survive. It's disgusting that we have slums in existence in this age of global communitcation, travel, and mass production. Nobody should be without.
