Renault doesnt believe in its own team and wants out.

They will get a better deal being associated with WCC winning team as engine supplier than having to support own midfield team.

Sinking ship or change for the better?

Ghosn was very ambiguous about it. It's not a secret he'll always go for the most profitable solution but apparently some in the Renault company board want to keep a team.

As for now, it seems that Lotus would be a sponsor name to the team. Meh, after all why not ?

Some even say that the colours scheme would change to the Black and Gold despite the fact that it has nothing to do with JPS but it would help associate Lotus and Renault.

Renault sold the team last year, apart from a small percentage, even though the team is still called Renault! Pretty good deal for them, having little investment yet reaping the rewards of having the name in the sport still!!

The team name gives Genii Capital a better chance of sponsorship as the name is more credible to potential investors than an investment company.

Renault are pretty much an engine supplier only now and reaping the rewards. They have 3 teams to supply next season and have their name on a championship winning car!!

They are reaping the rewards with minimum investment and a tie in with Lotus is gonna free up even more of their investment, they just can't go wrong at the moment.

"Renault are pretty much an engine supplier only now"

I think they still provide technical expertise in other areas.

That said, even as an engine provider they also give a little bit more than just delivering the blocks.

WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH GROUP LOTUS?!

As far as i can see it, they're getting free publicity through Lotus Racing!
Why are they going so out of their way to be awkward?!
Embrace Lotus Racing, back them and it'l be a damn sight cheaper and easier to get results. Because right now they are wasting their money and damaging their reputation by being the way they are about it.
Harrumph!

Might aswell just have 2 teams called LotusRenault,
it wouldn't be confusing for F1 insiders in the know.

The '2 teams' can be still be slightly different in terms of personnel, car livery designs, team clothing,
sponsors, where the main factories are based etc.

It would be fun...bring it on !!

CHRISK5-Why not go the whole hog and have Bruno drive the Lotus Renault? A marketing guys wet dream made in heaven!
Unfortunately,no matter how many strings Bernie pulls,JPS won't be welcomed back.

What a joke. Proton's excuse for rebadging the current Mitsubishi Lancer as a Proton Inspira was that they couldn't afford the rm60 million($19million) or there abouts for research and development of a completely new Proton.

Now they're saying they can afford to spend $60 million on Renault? A car company that can't afford to R&D and build a car of it's own suddenly wants to play with the big boys in the world of F1??????
