F1 » Alonso: Everything went wrong today

Fernando Alonso: It's a shame to get to the end of the season and then lose the title at the final moment, but that's racing, that is sport.

in my opinion alonso deserved the title more then anyone else today. ferrari let him down with the pitstop but its racing. He obvouisly was very upset after the race and emotional but this doesnt excuse hes handgestures to petrov though lol but hey everyones said things in the heat of the moment!

Anything can still happen?

Yes, it did.

Sorry for Spain not making it a clean sweep in 2010 but I do believe that this year is a Golden Year for Spanish sports. Good luck for the next season, FA :)

agreed nath . . . ferrari must know that alonso gave them hope and made things uncomfortable for red bull, bravo to fernando . . . most recent ferrari world champion is still kimi raikkonen, pole, fastest lap, win - debut, world champion in first season, enjoy your rallying kimi

@nath

Curious why you feel Alonso "deserved" the title more then anyone else? The fact that going into the last race 4 drivers had a shot says that they all had their ups and downs. The champ deserved the title and that happened to be Vettel, because he got the job done while the others didn't. I'm not a huge Vettel fan but he did what it took to win the title.

Hand-gestures or whatever lets talk about what happened.

Alonzo didn't get stuck behind Petrov. The Renault driver defended hid position in forceful and legal manner, nothing under handed by what he did. Alonzo just didn't have the pace or speed to over take. Are we saying the Petrov should have moved over to just LET Alonzo by, Hell No.

Alonzo is upset..OK at the Ferrari team
and himself, you were not fast enough to
win the championship, I think you owe Petrov an apology..He out raced you today, its just that simple.

Hats off to the rookie Petrov you drove a super race today.

i say deserved more because at silverstone he was 46 points behind the leaders and was writ off by a lot of people especially on here. he faught harder then anyone to silence his critics and to lose by a few points was just very unlucky. all of the drivers deserved the title today but i cant remember fernando making any mistakes all season

Alonso didn't deserve to win. Not only did it show that the Ferrari game of getting Massa to move over failed but the fact that Alonso felt the need to gesticulate to Petrove for "losing" him the title speaks volumes about the man. Personally I'd not lose any sleep if he never returned to the track - he's a spoilt brat and a poor loser.

Ha! Ha! Ha!
Just shows his arogance, dosn't want to be a racing driver, thinks other drivers should get out of his way like Massa does. Petrov drove his own race defending agains Alonso for over 30 laps well done.. and F*!k you Alonso!!!!!

he and the team along with ldm have commented that after a lot of tension things sometimes get emotional, it sometimes happens, but ferrari and fernando proved to be worthy opponents against a superior opponent, fernando gave us an inch perfect performance to steal victory in singapore, the team produced a pit stop that i think may have suprised even alonso it was so slick, more of that from the team from the start of next season, will ensure that next seasons champions will need to stretch there legs, the way vettel and red bull had to do this year
