There is no second driver as of yet. Renault is in talks with Lotus - no agreament to talk about. How could that be good for 2011? There is no fundaments and yet we are talking about a strong house? Good ground for dissapointement IMO. You haven't even started and are talking about competing for top positions next season. Comon people - be more reasonable! And you know , with Renault taking a back seat and russian money closer to stearing wheel we are heading for disaster rather I'd say

The 2011 car would be almost in construction stage - they have a excellent No1 driver and a very competeative engine. I think Eric Boullier is being reasonable.

@Pinio
Is that a Petrov insult?
Lets face it, he's the guy most likely to get the seat. The top four have continuity in their driver line-up and Boullier is a smart enough guy to know the only smart thing to do s the same.
He's really not a bad driver either. Just give him time. He'll do better in 2011.

Actually is working on me. I think Petrov has got some things that would make him become a good driver , if he improves in other areas. But how long i'd take? Who knows.
But how is it going to work if Lotus and Renault merge? Will they become one team and let two drivers go? In this case Kub & Kov is like a sure bet and they could add some spice to season 2011 , if car is at least as good as Renault this year.

@ Pinio

You have a lot of valid points earlier, but you are confused by the Lotus Renault "merger". The current F1 Lotus team is owned by the owner of Air Asia, and he licensecd the name from Proton which owns Lotus cars. Proton is rumoured to be buying the 25% stake from Renault and they did not renew their licensce with Tony Fernandezs (air asia owner). So there is no way those teams would combine. The current lotus f1 team will likely call itself another name. I do agree though, I would like to see Kov join kub at Renault(-Lotus). He is the perfect support for Robert.

To further clarify:

Renault F1 team: Owner 75% Gemini, 25% Renault
Lotus F1 team: Owner 100% Tony Fernandes

2011 likely names and owners

Renault F1 team: Owner 75% Gemini, 25% Proton
Likely Team Name: Renault-Lotus F1 team or Lotus-Renault F1 team

Lotus F1 team: Owner 100% Tony Fernandes
Likely Team Name: Team Lotus-Renault F1, Air Asia-Renault F1 team, 1Malaysia Racing Team

Further clarification:
I shouldn't say 100% Fernandes when in actuality it is Tune group (owned by fernandes) and Naza group, both malaysian companies with the malaysian govt involved but no direct investment. The irony in all this is Proton is also Malaysian. I have a feeling this is a battle between malaysian moneyman, essentially to see who has the bigger .....
