F1 » Crash.net's F1 2010 top ten: 3rd

Third place in our end-of-season top ten countdown of the stars of F1 2010 goes to a competitor who again displayed his great strengths as a driver...but sadly also betrayed his weaknesses as a man - Fernando Alonso

Yeah, so Vettel 1st (obviously) and Hamilton 2nd. Personally I too don't see any reason why Lewis should be in front of FA in this list. On balance the Ferrari and McLaren have been about equals this year IMO and Alonso managed to do more with his car than Lewis, even if you discount his P1 in Hockenheim, he still won four races fair and square (if a bit lucky) compared to Lewis' 2. The unnecessary DNFs Lewis had particularly in Monza and Singapore ultimate cost him a real chance to battle for the title.

Seems like this order has only been chosen cause FA acts like a douche sometimes.

i dont like alonso.he's similar to schumi they both want to win any cost even if they had to cheat. with that said he certainly deserves more thatn third,he displayed speed, consitency and didnt make any mistakes. he certainly drove as a champion this year although he still lacks the sportsmanship

How can you possibly put Alonso behind Hamilton! In the 2nd part of the season Fernando scored more points and podiums than any other driver! All of the top drivers made errors during the season, all have shown errors of judgement - but you are totally wrong to say he has shown any weakness as a man! this is absolutely typical of British reporting -bias towards Hamilton all the time!

It's strange to me that you would leave Lewis Hamilton off of your top 10 list... because there is no way that Hamilton could be considered the 2nd best driver of the year (2nd must be Kobyashi...)

I'll wait to see what the justification is, but if there is any talk of Hamilton "out driving his car" and/or "performing better than his car should have allowed", and/or "getting results undeserving of his car" then I seriously suggest that you re-watch the entire season and pay more attention to a yellow and black car that, more often than not, did all of the above to greater effect, but never banged into anyone else or threw it off the road.

JJJ, Hamilton won 3 races this year. Also Alonso had a few unforced errors too (the crash at Spa, the clash with Massa and dirty overtake on Kubica at Silverstone to name a few). Alonso had two races 'gifted' him remember, but that's not taking anything away from how great he was when he was 'on it'. Hamilton had to race his team mate and couldn't expect any help from Button at any time of the year. He also showed just how badly he wanted to win by not giving an inch to anyone who tried racing him. I honestly can't say the same about Fernando, Singapore being an exception. The only person Alonso seemed to be able to pressure was Massa.

Schumacher did a great job. After 3 years without driving a F1, after all the rule changes and after all the testing ban and so on, he had the balls to put his reputation to the side and face the challenge (new team, new engineers, new car) . Faced with dignity the criticism of all the pussies in the media and ex-drivers who either did not have a chance to return to F1 or ball to do so. I applaud Schumacher and Lance Armstrong for the courage. In terms of results, most of Schumacher's critics did not do what Schumacher did in 2010 on the top of their careers!

Fernando Alonso flawed? How many men are not flawed? Is every man otherwise perfect? You can not mock his driving ability so you take the easy route and mock his chracter? Pathetic really. He is the best driver out there. He is number one. When he got a car that was competitive he got the most out of it especially in the second half of the season. There was a earlier naive piece on this very same site questioning whether Fernando Alonso was worth it after Turkey GP. You got your answer in the second half of the season.

Alonso 3rd? Wow, I just saw Webber was 4th and thought how stupid is to rate Hamilton above him, but this is a complete joke. The people doing this are obviously biased. Actually I wouldn't be surprised if Hamilton ends on top of this pathetic list.
