@Daniel, the article states that they were team-mates in F3 and di Resta beat Vettel then to win the championship. Vettel has far more F1 experience than di Resta now, so it would be very interesting to see who'd win in a straight fight between them now.

Frentzen used to beat Schumacher in the German F3 series prior to F1 - yet when they reached F1 their form both changed. Past form in lower series is an indicator, but nothing more.

It's a whole different ball game in F1. In teenage years 17 years old is quite different from 18 years.

Look at kazuki Nakajima and Kamui Kobayashi, Toyota funded both of them but they decided Kazuki deserved the F1 ride first, because they figured he was better and more mature. Had they known Kamui had that burning desire in him they would have quickly put him in the Works toyota team, and still been in business by now.

Beyond teenage years intangible factors such as sheer will power, passion and desire are more manifested in a person. Sebastian Vettel simply has a very strong will to be best at what he does. His learning curve has also shot through the roof.

When you add to that, Vettel has driven 4 different F1 cars, he has developped a car, it's a hard sell on Dario's part. But they won't get equal machinery. The best Paul can do is finish at least 2/3 of his races in the points, then that could convince mercedes to take a better look at him. But if he somehow he manages to win in the force india (like vettel did in the STR), Norbert Haug will over rule Ross Brawn and put him in the mercedes, or maclaren will do away with button for him. Tough road.
