Or Renault (who happen to be sponsored by Group Lotus, much as McLaren are sponsored by Vodafone Mercedes by Petronas etc) and Team Lotus. Can't we just refer to them that way? I know I will.

Well, I thing that even this situations looks little messy from the law point of view, both sides can gain many from it. More Lotus, more info about Lotus in media, everything doubled and probably more rivalry on the grid than both Red Bull backed teams. And YES, Team Lotus may try to stay even with black&gold but with different scheme, maybe gold&very dark green +yellow here and there? cheer up!

Bad luck for Fernandez that Lotus decided to buy a team for themselves and not support his but I dont know why he still wants to keep Lotus name. It is free advert for Lotus cars and nothing for him. He is helping Proton to sell LOtus road cars.

Why he is not promoting his own bussiness, Air Malaysia?

Good point - it seems all Fernandes wants is a classic name to build up a following of Ferrari like Tifosi. All was going well until the fall out with Proton, so now it is all good PR for them selling cars. Why doesn't he go out and buy the rights to BRM, Cooper, Auto Union or some other defunct brand? Would Ross be prepared to sell him Braun GP rights? He's better off using his own name and building his team on its own successes a'la Frank Williams, Ron Dennis or Colin Chapman. It may be nice for some fans to see the old Lotus name back in F1, but its only a name for marketing purposes - neither of these two teams morally have any right to claim the name or the heritage it implies.
