F1 » Massa slated for dip in form by Ferrari boss di Montezemolo

Not holding back, Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo has rated Felipe Massa's F1 2010 campaign as just seven-out-of-ten, suggesting the Brazilian 'got a bit tired and fed-up mid-season and went home, sending his brother to drive' in his place

I wouldn't say dip in form, it was more a case of him been flattered by his drunk team-mate in 09, the team got behind him and he was full of confidence and in the best car.

Now he is with Alonso, who once comfortable (despite being the biggest t0ss3R in the field) can easily wipe the floor with him. Massa is, at best, slightly above average. He is just getting settled into being the undisputed team number two again - just in time for team orders to be an approved tactic of the FIA.

Did Massa slate Ferrari for their dip, or rather, crash, in form in the first half of the year ?

I do not remember it, but it is unlikely, Felipe is a Gentleman.

Quite a few times this year Ferrari staff seemed to have sent their brothers, kids and even maybe some local itinerant Olive pickers to help out with the team, such was the incompetence. Carried on to the very last race if I remember rightly...

Massa has been given way too much credit by way too many people for way too long.

Alonso needs a real partner, not the inequality he was shown at McLaren. Of course, this is a British site so this will receive a lot of "disagrees".

BTW, my second favorite driver is old Hambone himself, Lewis is really really good. Alonso and Hamilton treated as equals would have really been something for the ages.

OK, you guys can go ahead and bash Alonso some more now.

I think we would have seen a better performance from Massa if he was in with a chance, ie no team orders and no preferential treatment. Having a team mate who takes you off in the pit lane would p*ss anyone off, especially the teams chosen one.

Forced to play second fiddle to the likes of Alonso, who is constantly being beaten by younger compatriots, even when in the same equipment, is bound to play havoc with anyone's motivation. Hopefully signing on Alonso is the last of the worst decisions Luca has ever made...

Ferrari p*ssed on Massa's bonfire in germany so massa p*ssed on ferrari's bonfire for the rest of the season after that.

I don't blame him,you can't have number one and two drivers luca and expect the number two driver to give you 100%
It looks like you crapped on your driver once to often luca.perhaps if we had drivers with the b*lls to do this more often teams would do away with this number one and two driver stupidity.

Rubish, ferrari president di montezemolo should think before he shouts, becouse blaming Massa for underperforming is absurd. (JOKE OR NO JOKE). Fellipe Massa was demoralized by his team, furthermore, it was clear that the team did not provide with Massa the same car as Fernando Alonso.

just 'seven-out-of-ten' - that too generous it should be more like 'three-out-ten' ! ! !
But then when your lead to believe you have equal status in the team but then told to hold back, its not really surprising Mass is lost motivation - the sad truth is Massa can't hold a candle to Alonso over the course of a season and that by its self is hard accept for him !
