F1 » Schumacher: I can live with the criticism

Michael Schumacher: The year has been a big challenge, and in this respect my expectations have been fulfilled. In terms of results, we clearly did not meet our expectations. But then, you have to fight for the things you want to achieve, which has always been my credo.

I'm backing Schumacher for next season. I was never a fan of him but this attempted come-back has won me over!

Come on Schuey, prove the doubters wrong!

Hopefully he's had more of a hand in developing next years car and can spring a few surprises to make Mossie swallow his dentures :)

To be fair... schuy has had 20 years of listening to criticism.. I think all drivers get it at some point in their career, so it's nothing new for him (he was the main talking point in his 2nd gp.... not for good reasons either).

@ dangerous dave... of course he will, regardless of if Rosberg is faster than him or not... if schu is unhappy with something, he will go talk to the team and get it sorted... personally I think that is a much more suttle approach compared to someone like Alonso or Webber who go and moan publically... you will get more sympathy from the public but it doesn't make you faster.

To criticize a man with such a winning record , just because he had a bad season or even if his is past his prime is more a reflection
on the people doing the criticism, then the man himself. How many of his critics have accomplished anything even
slightly comparable to him? Bitter, Jealous fools me thinks.

We love you Mike, you NEVER give up,you have TRUE GRIT!
Many posters were still in nappies when the GREATEST of all drivers was on his first stint of winning titles.
Michael Schumacher for 2011,keep learning Rosberg, you have the MAESTRO in the car next to you.Lucky man!

The Legend was able to drive around anything, and at times clearly did.

This year his performances have not been great because he had a car unsuited to his style and, by his standards, little testing.

So why could he not "drive round that" ?

Unanswerable IMO. Does not Compute.

In his day I utterly despised him for cheating Damon out of one or more Championships, but since the retirement, Bike action and his stoic attitude to a seemingly poor return to F1, I am gaining a lot more respect for the man. He loves Racing, not simply knocking one out over his percentage of wins or whatevers.

Nice one Michael, actually rooting for you now.

I seem to remember Schumacher spending two seasons at Benetton and then having a car/driver combination that was a class above. I seem to remember him going to Ferrari and constantly saying they were seasons away from being competitive and all the know-alls saying he was just making excuses ...

There could be a pattern here? Sure, the testing bans minimise perhaps his most singularly great asset, the ability to develop a car. But he's still the greatest maximiser of a car's potential the sport's ever seen.

And the sport has never seen a driver competing 20 years after his debut. Of those who have lingered on, most went out as pale shadows of themselves. Few drivers, even the greats, maintained their intensity for more than a few seasons. For 20? The man is not normal. Huge surprises are a big possibility.
