Ferrari target Sebastian Vettel, keen to pair the German with Fernando Alonso in 2012?

Slightly arrogant from Monte, but not surprising. What if Ferrari are nowhere in a couple of years time?? They haven't got a great track record for doing brilliantly after rule changes force re-designs and bring in new technology (e.g. KERS was crap, 90's active suspension was bad, after spending most of last year saying they would concentrate on this year they still couldn't keep up with RBR who came off the back of trying to win the championship last year).
That may explain the interest in Newey but that's a bit of a slap in the face to the design team.

Vettel (like many drivers) may dream of driving for Ferrari but I would steer clear (for a couple of years) as, if Ferrari were running the Red Bull team after mid season he would have been 'expected' not to win the championship. And after all, I doubt he'd want to play second fiddle to Alonso.

I think we all know just how much Alonso would love Vettel, or Kubica for that matter, he is so irrepressibly enthusiastic about having competitive teammates in equal cars.

I remember 2007 when he loved the idea so much he went and hid in a slow Renault for 2 years because he enjoyed it so much at McLaren.

There's nothing like building Felipe's confidence and strengthening the bond !! He has been a loyal number two, will Vettel or Kubica be as a loyal number two ? I doubt it....

Good, it would be good to have two world-class drivers in the Ferrari team, instead of Massa continuing to take up valuable real estate. Ok the guy was flattered by a faultering Raikonnen, but I can never see Ferrari throwing everything behind him as his skill just doesn't warrant it.

Question is how would Alonso take it? He's had a competitive (ie better) team-mate in the past - and that went well!!!!

I think the news here is they wanted Newey. With the lockdown on testing, its difficult to play catch up if your car's not fast from day 1. The new rules suit Newey big time. His cars have always been fast. In the past Ferrari could throw tons of cash and do hundreds of testing miles - between races to catch up but not any more.
FA is the leader and will not like SV at all. SV could get into his head the way LH did (and still does)

Ferrari spin to rile up their existing drivers , Enzo's spirit is alive and well in Lucas body . Ferrari is their own worst enemy . I did enjoy cheering for Schumacher all of those years but was disapointed when he announced his retirement half way through the season and did not give his fans a last look at him in a Ferrari . Ferrari run by the non-english is the same old in-fighting political Ferrari, what a waste.
