Two names synonymous with the original Lotus F1 project have lent their backing to the new alliance between Renault and the Proton-owned Group Lotus due to make its debut in 2011.

Mansell might have a genuine excuse to comment, but most of us can remember nothing of the man in the last 20 years, he simply vanished off to the Golf Course and gave noting back to the Sport.

Now he is just trying to make an effort as he has to raise the brand profile as his sons try to use the name to get sponsors...

sixtenths. poor comment! although i was never a fan of mansell, evn though he has kpt alow profile since retiring, he has kept his toe in the door, and has fostered his kids (not very successfully) and he has at least entered le mans. yes, he was a fighter, and just because he retired, is no reason to dismiss him as you have done! he gave us some good races and some very memorable moments. maybe you are not old enough to remember?

That's it as far as I'm concerned. As long as TF had the Chapman's support (and many considered he did) I thought that backed his claim up. Now that's no longer the case he should do the honourable thing and sell the name. I can foresee a deal being struck before the season starts. The only issue now is whether he can come to a deal regarding chassis names, 1Malaysia may lose a lot of money over this.

There should only have ever been one Lotus team anyway. While I don't agree with how Group Lotus/Proton have went about their business, they seem to be gathering the support more than TF and he should back down now. Race as 1Malaysia Tony, build up your team which I think will do well next year and create your own heritage from this point on.

Well now...Fernandes to run Team Lotus...it's just pointless with current circumstances. In 2011 he will use this brand name losing the opportunity to popularize his own brand. This case just affecting Fernandes team to develop properly its car for 2011.

I feel sorry for this team. They are fighters. I think now they have to come up with a new name and start afresh. Thet will have my support and I wil never forgive Renault, Proton, or this Lotus manufacture for the under-handed way they did this.
Can't be that hard surely to find a new name that represents their ambitions and the companies they are and are involved with.
Maltech from 10 secs thought. There must be a lot better names out there!
Good luck in 2011 anyway.
