F1 » HRT refugees assess options for F1 2011

Hispania Racing (HRT) F1 2010 team-mates and friends Karun Chandhok and Bruno Senna have been left to evaluate their remaining options for 2011, as both look set to be left on the sidelines

This could be a blessing in disguise for the both of them. HRT are going no where, and Dr. CK doesn't know anything about running a team. IMHO, both land testing roles, and hopefully bounce back in 2012. MS, JT, VP, better perform in 2011 or they will be seriously under threat.

It is unlikely that HRT will complete next season so I do not think these pair will miss much.I gather that HRT no longer have anybody to build and develop chassis for them so there really is not much hope.

I think Karun testing for a team like Lotus is not a move up. He should be testing for a mid or top level team. I mean hes in the same position Narain was after the end of the 05 season, when he moved to Williams looking at the long term future and that did not work out for him.

Karun needs to be racing in F1 and he still hasn't proven himself.

I hope Karun does not go to Lotus its not a move up but a move down. It will waste his time Lotus only allowed Fauzy to drive on Friday morning how can Karun be satisfied with that, he has no chance of a race seat at Lotus they just want his money. He should have stayed with HRT and race who will notice him driving friday morning when Narain is back in F1 and the HRT car with the Williams rear end will probably beat Lotus anyway. Maybe they want him in Air Asia GP2 car because they have no driver. Karun spend your money wisely

Note the difference in attitudes between the two. Karun is positive and chasing whatever he can get, Bruno is whining about money. Bruno may have gone into F1 with a better reputation and seemingly much more talent, but Karun has really impressed with his positive and hard-working nature. Being the nephew of a legend doesn't automatically entitle you to behave like a spoilt brat when things don't work out. Imagine how Bruno would have reacted to a countryman coming in from the cold to take a drive he was hoping for, as has happened to Karun.

Both would be better off looking for another series to run in over trying for testing... what is testing worth when you have a near complete testing ban?

F1 has an abundance of drivers and none are likely to retire of their own accord next season, so unless the pair want to start praying that drivers get injured they are better off looking elsewhere.

Why do people say he would be better off with HRT because he would be racing?

The 107% rule is back for 2011, and so far it seems HRT could be racing with an updated version of the (awful) 2010 car.

The HRT struggled to be within 107% at some of the races in 2010, when the top cars are even quicker in 2011 they will have no chance.

What options? Don't make me laugh. There are no options. If Hulkenburg can't get a drive what chance do these two have?

As for HRT, suspended from FOTA for not paying their 2010 fee. They even have the cheek to then say that they had already decided to leave when they were suspended. Total BS.

I don't think they'll be in F1 for long.
