Eric Boullier: We will be running under a British licence now. It means that if we win, we will play the British national anthem.

Buck, the use of Jerusalem as England's Commonwealth Games anthem was chosen by some sort of public consultation/vote.

"Toleman, and then Benetton were both licensed as English"

Not English,... British. Motor Racing Licences are issued by the MSA which is recognised by the FIA for the issue of British licences. There is no body (that I know of) which can issue a license for England or Scotland.

Changing anthems doesn't changed anything unless you winning some race. The last time i remember that Renault won was like 2 years ago in Japan 2008 when F. Alonso was still driving for them...

Almost every months GL make some new announcements. Since last year, they was the minor partner with Fernandes Lotus Racing, then they become major sponsor/stakeholder and resulting the Lotus Renault, then they released pre-season black-gold car and the latest one changing anthems.. What's next?

I might not surprised if within this year or next year they will announce that they will be making their own F1 engines and depart with Renault and naming the team "The Real Lotus Only GP"...??

So, are folk saying that the English teams shouldn't call themselves British but rather English lol..Scots, Welsh etc are all part of the one nation but are allowed to have their selective anthems played at certain previously defined events. F1 is not a race within a race of countries, it is nationality and not country, unlike the old A1GP..and even then the 'home countries' would be licensed by the same authority...Even an Italian passport says, 'country of origin: Italy..Nationality: Italian.' Methinks someone is harping on the Union Act just for the sake of it here lol.

That Malaysian owns the British ticket. The brand is British, the F1 team Enstone are British, don't see the problem?
Your probably concerned Jaguar is Indian owned?
At least it's not a Malaysian F1 team fooling everyone that they have a legitimate British ticket!

DTS: "I've been on holidays and out of the loop recently. Can anyone update me on the Fernandes situation? Are we still going to have 2 lotus teams this season?"

I thought it had settled down and the fake Lotus ws going to quietly rename itself, but the latest video news on here shows they have just plastered the iconic Lotus badge all over their factory.
