Ex-Renault F1 executive director of engineering Pat Symonds predicts a continued resurgence from his erstwhile employer in 2011 - and, sadly, a continued struggle for his former protégé Michael Schumacher

I have continually pointed out, if Schuey really is the great driving god, then why couldn't he adapt to the Merc last year ? Just because the tyres weren't completely to his liking, or the aero package wasn't quite right, or ... or whatever his fanboys excuses for him were. Odd that. Sorry, couldn't help myself there. Leave Schuey alone, just let him get on with it, he's doing alright, it's just that the world has moved on. He may indeed again win a race by some chance - even Panis did - but he's has his period of dominance.

Completely agree that Pat is a huge loss to F1, irrespective of his mistake (ultimately he wasn't the team principle so wasn't the decision maker) he built four championship winning cars & should be back at Enstone taking the fight to the big boys again... A sad loss with such huge knowledge.

@BEA - your opinion is shared by many. Personally I have my doubts that it was intentional. If you watch the video the first thing that he does is signal for a push so that he can continue on his way. If his intent was to cause a blockage then he would have just shut the car off and gotten out right away. Unless he admits that it was intentional it is impossible to know if he did it intentionally. Until he says otherwise I will give him the benefit of doubt.

Mark - nice try, but ...I know it seems I am an MS basher, but... the point of his blocking the track at Monaco was the even though he'd left enough room for others to squeeze by, he 'parked' on the racing line in the middle of a partially blind corner, so knew the officials would stop the session and that at least waved yellows would force everyone behind to lift off and be unable to challenge his time. Like I say, honest, I'm not a Shuey basher ( eh ? ), I'm only pointing out what actually happened.
