Oh my God... is Williams that bad? Or is the pay driver that bad.... Considering he actually got in a dozen laps it can't just be down to a broken car... that is absolutely awful.

These aren't road cars, they've not undergone hundreds of hours of testing in all conditions before the driver gets in. They're more like experimental aircraft and the start of these test sessions is like a test pilot taking one out for the first time. They take things slowly and make sure everything is safe and performing as expected before gradually picking up the pace.
A fast time early on in testing usually indicates the team are trying to win sponsership, or that there have been few changes to a can since last it was run.

@Yirmin: Your comment must come from a teenage girl, and aHulk fan, still bitter because the justin bieber of F1 is no longer racing. Get over it girl!! Nico Bieber was massively outpaced by his very old teammate, therefore he gets the holy boot.

If you look at the pics, you will notice that the williams had some crap hanging on the side, which means they were doing aero work, and they manage to do only 13 laps

Ricciardo's 3rd time in the torro rosso and he blitz's his much more experienced team mate by a second! I know its only testing but this guy is going to make many drivers look ordinary when he gets a full time seat.

Of course Maldonado is not that slow. He is the GP2 champion for gods sake. Its not as if he has no credentials at all. Some people must be incredibly stupid if they think that is his best time.

Maldonado may be a pay driver but he is quite a good one.
