No doubt if Jenson crashes and breaks his leg the worlds media would be saying he shouldn't have been allowed to drive......

On a separate note I had the pleasure of driving round Bathurst last year, albeit in a hire car, and it's a fanastic circuit.

sounds good 2 me or thought i dont like the chances of a formula 1 car making it around. Now just to get a motogp bike up there that would be crazy

Should be ok to get an F1 car around the track as it is very smooth and a first class surface.I had the pleasure of 4 laps at a little over legal speed on my old Yamaha about 3 weeks ago Oli.What did you think of the surface???Smooth enough for an F1 car???Going down through the dipper will look interesting though.Maybe a few scrapes there?

Keep up Crash, one of the people commented ages ago (iirc on the Mclaren launch thread) about this, and the news story was doing the rounds back then.

@Kiko. I wrote about this event maybe 2/3 weeks ago. I thought the same when I saw this thread, Crash are so far behind the times! However, doesn't take away from the excitement of the announcement. An F1 car around Bathurst will be awesome. Just hope they get to open it up! Also, will be interesting to see JB in a V8 Supercar. This will show whether he can really drive or not! The V8's are a beast and the track is very demanding at full tilt....which the V8 will be OK'ed to do.

@ James

Haha, I agree. MotoGP round Bathurst would sort the men from the boys!

@F Fish

Yes, the surface is excellent. Very smooth and grippy. On the day I was there they closed the road mid way through the day and held some downhill skateboard and street luge races - those guys are slightly crazy too!

This is a real coup for Vodaphone.

Is is to be held on the 22nd of March.

Bathurst City Council only gave their approval
in the last 24 hours and is still to be ratified by CAMS (Our Governing Safety Body) which they consider will be a formality.

For those that do not know Mt Panorama is a road used daily and has many residents but is a true and demanding circuit.

FooAtari .

@James and Oli

"Now just to get a motogp bike up there that would be crazy"

You have heard of the Isle of Man TT, Macau GP, North West 200 and other such road races, right? MotoGP at Bathurst would be tame in comparison.

Sounds very interesting but I just hope tyhat we do not get a repetition of the unfortunate Kubica disaster.

Just hope we have an interesting and eventful F1 season

@Upyours, after RK accident, I feel allowing JB into basically a family sedan with 600bhp, minimal grip and aero flat stick around Bathurst will be a big ask. But...you never know. They do have good brakes!
