F1 » Brawn: Mercedes will look 'different' in Barcelona

Ross Brawn concedes that Mercedes Grand Prix is presently 'about a second' shy of the front-running pace in F1 2011 - but he is 'quietly confident' an upgrade package for next week's Barcelona test will help to bridge the gap

I bet the new Mercedes upgrade for Barcelona tests will incorporate new exhaust layout and new front wing.
It would be nice to see a new nose cone as well, but that's unlikely to happen, otherwise I guess the team should go throu a new crash test.

If he honestly thinks they may be 1 second off the front runners on race day, that's going to be a massive problem ! realistically none of the top 4 or 5 team can bridge a 1 second gap given the pace of development by the leading teams ! Good luck to them - Think there going to need it ! ! !

I think that this is just spin and the car is going to be a dog. I pray that I am wrong as I would really like to see how Schumi shapes in a competitive car and not need to measure him against Rosberg again the whole year. If the car is a dog then Mercedes need to fire their entire design team and start from scratch. They just don't seem to have what it takes.

If its a dog, then it's a dog.

Mercedes are being brave doing this venture, as is Schumacher and Brawn.
We know the W02 in the form we have seen isnt going to be the finalised car. I can say that from some very telling patchwork on the body.

Mercedes will most likely have somthing that is unlike the competitions. Hence why this comes late in the test season, to give competitiors less chance to copy it. Look at their side pod and exhaust solutions come Barca...that is all.

Michael Schumacher was not in a car in 2010 that he had had any part in designing. This year it is totally different......he and Ross are PROVEN winners, they know what it takes to get the results.

THE Mercedes G.P.TEAM ARE TRYING TO BE HONEST,more than can be said for some of the others who are acting covertly and OVERLY secretive in their current developments. Yes RBR,you know who we mean!

Man,the GREAT Michael Schumacher calls a spade a spade ..he is openly telling the truth about developments. No one could ever point a finger at the LEGEND OF F1 and says he is a braggart.A quietly spoken man who has earned the respect of a huge fanbase Worldwide, that he so richly deserves.

Just leave it to Schumi,he will deliver this year without a doubt(dv)He was a born racer,a living legend, let the fans rejoice that they can see him racing still.Look at the interest in F1 now to how it was when he was absent. The soul of F1 was missing for nearly 4 years.

Always remember,F1 IS SCHUMI and SCHUMI I

Never mind look different. You need to produce better results than year. No one is interested in cosmetics or what what bolt on goodies you have.
It's results that we want, Merc board want, and sponsors want. Now get on with it.

So what if schumi had no info at the start of the WO1, neither did Nico and he still creamed him.

Every time Schumi opened his mouth about making improvements he made the car worse. Remember the longer wheel base he wanted which would hinder Nico, yet he still couldn't match him.

No one cares about schumi's easy days with Ferrari/Bennetton elite making him the best car. Schumi was just there for the ride so infact Schumi is a plain idiot in the pit lane, always bitching about what he wants all the time and screwing over his teammate.

"Yack, yack, yack" is what you schumi fans are all like. So Nico will have to shut you all up again just like last season.

If Mercedes are really serious about winning the WDC/WCC they need to support Rosberg far, FAR more and ditch the fossel in the other car and get vettel in it. They would have the strongest lineup afterwards, FACT!

i can see this new package being as radical as the 2011 mclaren, and as good as the 2009 brawn double defuser, just sence the confidence that wasnt present last year and the cagyness, and its as though theyve held this package back not because they are behind designing it but because they want to head into the first few races way out front like in 09 and giving the others as little time to copy as possible ,and i do believe that schumacher will be on form this year ,and rosberg as also proved is worth so its gona be a good one.
