Lewis Hamilton has become the latest F1 driver to voice concerns over Pirelli's tyres following pre-season testing, claiming that they have made the cars slower.

Martin Whitmarsh - "The drivers and teams should perhaps be more careful in their expressions."

And then Lewis comes out with this. I reckon Hamilton is in big trouble with tyre wear this year and that is why he is complaining so much. If he's as good as I thought he was when he started first he should be able to overcome this problem after a while.

Since Hamilton joined F1,every season he had at least one puncture in his tyres. In 2007 that happened in Turkey,in 2008 in Hungary,in 2009 in Germany and 2010 in Spain. For the moment I can't remeber other occasions because I hurry and have no time. But with Pirelli it seems that this will happen again in 2011,and I guess than more than one time.

No doubt the teams will be closer this year than the last one and this should be good for the show.
What I agree it's not good for the sport, it's F1 slowing down because of the too many limits and rule changing. In the long run it makes no sense because F1 has surely reached high standards in terms of safety and now it's time to speed up/increase the performance, leaving the engineers and drivers more freedom and control.
Please watch the video "Greatest Duel Villneuve vs. Arnoux '79 French Grand Prix F1 "... that's what we miss from nowaday F1, that's what we need back!

F1listdotcom - you are talking about Arnoux vs Villeneuve as if that was common back then. It wasnt, that battle was exceptional then and it would be now. F1 has never been an overtaking fest so why do people try to remember it as such. If anything it was more boring in the past when only about 3 cars would finish on the lead lap. Rose tinted glasses are a great/terrible thing.

can't really disagree with anything he said in the interview.

i know we don't want soft tyres to last half the race like some instances last year but do we really want them wearing down to the carcass after only nine laps??

if nothing else this seasons pit lane duels will be interesting :)

Diarmuid - I can't totally disagree with what you say and I partially agree with.
I just think that F1 has the potential to become an overtaking sport with real top performances, while keeping high standards of safety.
