F1 » Pay discrepancy exposes battle of 'equals' at RBR

Speculation about Sebastian Vettel's increased salary following the German's recent contract renewal with Red Bull Racing only serves to underline that he and team-mate Mark Webber are anything but equal...

we all know they are not equal and have done for some time. I am not a fan of Seb really but lets put this in to context, he is the current WDC and therefore should be paid more than Webber (who I am a fan of). Sportmans pay should always be performance related in my opinion to justify high earnings so in that respect Seb deserves all he gets financially.

As long as they have equal treatment on track that's all Webber needs to shove the "finger" off the road again like he did at Silverstone. Hope he can get the job done this year!

Funny this article refers to us Australians.

Have not seen a whinge or heard anything in disrespect to Vettels contract.

Last Year BRW quoted Mark as earning AUD$13.6M.

Mark just wishes to race and is not interested
now in the monetary sense although being Australian and like all of us still values his first $.

Lewis is paid more. But in life you make deals for YOURSELF. You don't complain after the fact and say I want more. Mark has no right to complain and he probably will not.

As Commodore said, I havent heard a word about it here in Oz as well.
If Mark was really worried about the dollars, he would be basing himself in Switzerland or Monarco (like most of the other F1 drivers) instead of England.

Good luck to Seb anyway.

We all know that joint No. 1 drivers don't necessarily get the same money.

Button & Barichello for Brawn
Hamilton & Button for McLaren
Schumacher & Rosberg for Mercedes

It will always be the case as there will always be one "face" in a team which generates more marketing opportunities / sponsorship.

Nothing new here just another opportunity to try and stir up animosity between too equal drivers as we all know that two team mates working in perfect harmony just does not sell newspapers.

of course seb will get paid more than mark. after all, he is the wdc. but on figures quoted last year, mark was being paid more than seb. so a "number 2" was getting paid more than a "number 1"??
