When you think about how much air is deflected by a car in front of another down a fast straight you almost have to agree. Im sure those rear wings are doing a minimal amount as far as passing is concerned.

What they should do is the front and rear wings actuate when ever a car is with in 1/2 a second behind of it, at any point on the track. Muahahahahahahah.

But basically, the problem is the FIA don't really understand, so they keep trying things out to see what works. They'll be at it for years yet, and the teams will pay the price.

Along with KERS this is downright stupid and does nothing for the sport exept hurt it. F1 stinks anymore, and I agree, let the mftrs build good cars and we'll see who the best drivers are. Lets bring some F1 back into F1.

Back in your hole old man... wait... he has a point? how about taking away stupid penalties for aggressive overtakes then end in tears, as far back as I can remember those were part of racing. Everybody is too scared to have contact that they avoid an overtake. remember back to the Senna, Prost days, overtaking was spectacular and risky. Senna was known for taking the smallest gap and making a move out of it, F1 drivers were real mean back then and the FIA stayed out of their way.

pcxmac, I'm not sure that would work. If you imagine that the point at which cars are usually the closest are at the end of straights and in the corners. Well if the wing of the car behind actuates then, the following car wouldn't get enough downforce to provide grip coming out of the corner. Now, if you actuate the wing of the car in front, that's a different story.

@Nuevo, actually, I can see the case for KERS. It has some green content and is kind of like the old turbo button from way back. They should increase the use of KERS rather than limit it.

Lose the wings entirely, bring back ground effects (only), give the teams unlimited engine displacement, bring back refuelling during the race and get multiple tire suppliers. That should shake it up a little!

They should allow unlimited HP boost with KERS if they are going to use the technology. But I tend to believe that all these push button option should NOT be part of F1.
