I thought Coulthard and Hakkinen had both done more races for McLaren than 73. I assume the article's badly worded and mean "most starts for a single team having never driven for anyone else" - Hakkinen had raced for Lotus and Coulthard had raced for Williams, and Red Bull later on.

"Meanwhile, Hamilton's 73rd start for McLaren in Malaysia on Sunday made him officially the most loyal driver in F1 history in terms of the most races begun for just a single team."

Mika Hakkinen = 165 races entered (161 started)
Races for Lotus 91 - 91 = 32
Rest of career (late 93 to 01) at McLaren
That's 133 races for McLaren.

Coulthard started 135 races for McLaren.

I'll check my old school books but I think 133 and 135 is more than 73.

Incidently the most races started by any driver for the same team is Schumacher. He started 181 races for Ferrari.

I also though of Hakkinen straight up, but I think it is meant to be in reference to races for a team from the start of a career. Just not worded very well.
If you discount the 354 name changes Force India has had over the last few years, Sutil must be close to that kind of number too.

Why did the team held Hamilton up at the 1st pit stops (6.9sec). It was very clear that the guys did the job at aprox 3.6-9sec, but LH was never released until 3 more secs later, why?? His lead over Buttom a lap b4 was 1.6 and increasing.

Again they call him for a pit stop earlier than everyone else and fit wrong tyres (Prime)while he still had a new set of (option) avaliable.

Everybody on that padocks knew that the hard were not the tyres to be on, plus the could not go for more than 16 laps. But, again, Mclaren brings LH in for tyres 20 plus laps to the end... What were they realy trying to test, the boys temper???!!

Andrew its pretty easy to understand, Lewis has the record for most starts with a single team, meaning he has only raced for 1 team in his F1 career. Hence why he has just beaten the late great Jim Clark who spent his career in F1 with Lotus, as you pointed out Mika raced for more than one team hence why hes not the record holder for this one
