F1 » Massa: Our situation isn't as bad as it looks...

Despite Ferrari currently appearing to be arguably only F1's fourth force behind Red Bull Racing, McLaren-Mercedes and even Lotus Renault GP, Felipe Massa is adamant that there is reason for optimism at Maranello

It is a little early for doom and gloom for any of the top 5 teams. We shouldn't expect any major changes or upgrades until they return to Europe. Starting with so many fly away races the teams are for now somewhat locked in at their current performance levels.

Totally in agreement with F1Fan. Ferrari may be ruthless with their drivers, but they're pragmatic as well. All Felipe needs to be the team's #1 is SPEED. He's outrun a world-champion teammate before, and earned the team's full backing. Can he do it again?

My hopes are yes. HELLS-yes. But I'll have to wait and see how the season shakes out!

Ferrari just need to work on their qualifying form and should be just fine. Currently they are quiet fast in race trim as we saw in the last race both its drivers past both the mclaren drivers (alonso was clearly faster then hamilton and was about overtake him).
So they are no weak team and their cars are easy on the tires.
And people are forgeting the rate Ferrari devlop their cars. Where were they begining to mid season last year? Wasnt Alonso somthing like 49 points behind the leader @the british GP and no one gave him a scond thought for fighting for the championship?
yet all for a sudden he was leading the championship going into Abu Dhabi!
So dont write them off or over look them just yet.

It's bad for Massa. Ferrari won't give him a chance to show his true pace. It did give me a smile to see Massa finish ahead of Alonso last week due to Alonso's own stupidity.

Going on the practice times from today, I hope Alonso is getting radio messages telling him "Felipe is faster than you. confirm you understand the message."

To be fair Andrew. Alonso's Ferrari was falling apart and he completed the fewest amount of laps unless you compare the red car to the Virgin. And they were so proud as was Sunny with the amount of mileage that Ferrari was able to run pre season. Sunny quoted mileage as if it was a bench mark for all to admire. I wonder if he now wishes that the car was shown as plastic? Or maybe teflon.
