Williams F1 has announced a dramatic reshuffle of its technical department, with Sam Michael and Jon Tomlinson to depart the team - and controversial 'Spygate' protagonist Mike Coughlan joining as chief engineer

I'm sure Sir Frank got him cheap, like everything else in the stable. Nothing wrong with that, really -- I'm sure Coughlan was very motivated to return. It'd be nice to see Williams bounce back. Now if F1 could stop screwing around with the formula (engines, KERS, the wings, etc) maybe some of the smaller teams would have a chance.

Sorry to be frank, but frank..... really..????
Are you moving forward with this decision?
Have you provided the team with strong and motivated drivers...???
We would all love to know how much Sam had to say as technical director...
My impression was that his every thought or idea may have had to been passed through two old hands...
not good for any forward thinking person with major responsibility.

It is a good thing that Williams don't have any technology that another team would want to copy! Maybe they could hire Piquet Jr. and Dave Ryan then they would have all of the gates covered.

michael is no loss, but why employ coughlan? here is a person who was aiming to depart mclaren with all their info as well as the ferrari info. frank should make sure that he has his back covered!

I said that they needed to do something pretty quick and now they have, all they need to do now is just get Montoya back and then they should start winning races again,Montoya's talent is being wasted in Nascar and he needs to come back to F1.

Montoya ?!? Get real man. As much as I'd like to see him back, he's friggin' 35 years old, not to mention overweight.

If Williams are kicking Sam Michael out completely, I think Macca should hire him. I believe he'll perform better in a support role with less pressure.

woooooow......that's some change! Although there are two things that worry me. First would be that changes in the middle of the season are difficult to master, and it takes time to pay off. The second is Rubens comment about Sam beign overworked. Changing rather than adding wont help. There is a comment above which point fingers to the drivers.......forget it! Two double DNF's is serious stuff......not even the HRT's did that

OMG!!!..... I know what it needs to happen now!.... Frank should call Flavio B and put him as TD!. Can you imagine? Frank, Flavio, and Coughlan! May the dark force be with you!.......the imperial team!

Shrieker,35 is not too old he could well have another 3 or 4 good years left in him in F1,but if he is going to come back then he needs to do it pretty soon.Plus anyone can lose weight pretty quickly so thats not a problem.
