He likes the option. If they had it last year he may have been WDC again. It allows the car behind to get around a car that is slower. If you catch them you can now get around instead of losing time behind a defensive driver. I noticed that almost all the drivers that realized a DRS was being activated behind them didn't defend the position as they knew it was fruitless.

rob. i am actually surprised that few defend. after all, all the drivers know the one zone where it can bu used, and there is even a trackside sign to tell them, yet few who were about to be passed, moved over to take the best defensive line.

They understand that the car behind is moving at a much higher rate of speed. Their best chance is to tuck behind and try and get them back the next lap. Smart move by all the drivers.

I was not a fan of DRS but what FA says on DRS is correct. It's true, neither he nor MW could pass Rosberg until his tyres went off, then the DRS came into play to make the pass easier. So we are getting overtaking so game on

i was skeptical abt DRS at 1st but im getting suckd into its effectiveness. pretty sure FA isnt complaining about it - it pretty much eliminates the hassle, risk and tyre sacrifice for ovrtking slower cars in front. im a fan of an idea quicker guy should be in front. to me its fair.

idealy there shouldve been more ovrtking without gimmicks as such but it just didnt happen, for years. these drivers are pro and must deliver result to keep their seats - better keep points rather than risk it. 1point rather than DNF. if you risk it and you fail, no seat next yr.

this trend had to be broken by force so DRS was born.

fjm. you musnt follow these forums very much. there is a limit as to where and when the drs can be used. this is set by fia prior to a race, and normally only on one small section of the track, and only if the passing car is within 1 sec at the drs point! in quali, the driver can use it at any time he desires, but NOT in the race.
