F1 » Button: I suffered for looking after my tyres in Turkey

Jenson Button reflects that he was effectively punished for having driven 'a clean, strong race' and taken care of his tyres in last weekend's Turkish Grand Prix in Istanbul - but he tips McLaren-Mercedes to bounce back in Barcelona

surely it's a good thing that Jense can save his tyres in some races and benefit but do it in others and not? that's a testament to how well pirelli have done and they've certainly mixed it up as a result. one tyre strategy is no longer an option.

“Besides, we didn't really have the pace in the car to challenge for victory" Well guess if you can't
run as fast as Red Bull, its got to be the tyres.
I really love the close racing, but to many pit stops. The movable wing, and that go fast push
button are really working at Red Bull. Really I think
that its time to call Ron Dennis, Please!

Jb is a non-risk taker..he only drives calmly and i dont see any battle with other drivers besides his team mate LH..i wonder why is still hoping for world champ again..he wasting his time and SO is LH..these days 2nd or 3rd world titles are extemely hard to win!!...i dont think he has any chances with other teams..dont be surprise Jb, webber, MS , and LH-possible will retire from F1 if thet think they cant win anymore or impossible to win ever again...driver like alonso...will 1 day win the 3rd title but that is possible with these guys leaving..

@christy Lewis and Jenson leaving so your beloved Alonso will win a 3rd Title? On the contrary Alonso would rather have these guys around!

corection.FA would rather not race witht these guys around,,they are a major road block! to his pace...and what more vettel adds a even bigger road block like a accident on the freeway..his hopes of 3rd title is still in high hopes..even if his ferrari contact expires and he hasnt won the title yet,,he would still ask ferrari to extend his contact..and im sure ferrari would be gladly to do so..

As SS said much earlier, the overtaking IS contrived and artificial - the tyre construction and composition designed to fall off the grip cliff after a designed time. In the immediacy of the race, it might provide sensation, but surely manipulating the rules specifically to increase one factor, simply devalues it. We will remember Hakkinen's pass on Schumacher going up the hill from Eau Rouge for decades for the outstanding quality. I am already struggling to recall an overtaking move from this season, as they all blur into one another. F1 is starting down the Nascar road, which is a dangerous way to go - unless you like dumbed-down pseudo-sport.
