F1 teams wait for clarification over use of exhaust-blown diffusers ahead of Spanish GP.

it appears that this was all a storm in a teacup. no technical directive was issued, but "a team" asked for clarification, to which fia replied that the gasses should not be used for aerodynamic effect. (odd, when exhausts always fill in the aero hole behind the car). they have now had a rethink and found that there is nothing in the rules that actually prohibit such a use. there may be a new rule introduced but this cannot be done before the new season.
as the "story" was broken by a mclaren employee, it can only be assumed that mclaren were the team seeking clarification, possibly as they were behind in this developement?

richard, or could it be that McLaren were clarifying the situation before they start work on this area? Given the resource limits it's not worth spending time and money on an area if the FIA then outlaw it.

Mclaren are scum , pure and simple! Can't handle being whipped week in week out now resorting to these tactics, safe to say Newey will find a solution sooner rather than later, also if I remember correctly Mclaren were struggling like mad in testing before they copied RBR's exhaust. Maybe Mclaren knows why their own system didn't work and fixed it therefore seeking to ban the system they've been using in favour of their own knowing Redbull and Ferrari can't retaliate quick enough, these are the tactics this supposedly ultra professional team have to resort to now even to compete with a drinks company, it's sickening.

Yob,how can you say that when you don't even know if it was Mclaren who asked for the rule change and anyway Mclaren have proved that they can still win even without the brains of Newey(which is the only reason why red bull are where they are now)!.The latest is that the FIA have now delayed bringing in the rule change but it still could well happen.

McLaren are whining again. I'm embarrassed for them. Lets not forget the relentless complaining about RBR's front wing from them. Is it just me or are McLaren the whiniest bunch in Formula 1?

So everytime someone innovates something it either gets banned or needs clarification.

Whatever happened with F1 being the elite.

Might as well go watch Indy or touring cars if wanted same old crapola.
