50 Cent Sebs KERS was working but in some moments it wasn't. In the closing laps it did kick in however I'm gonna re-watch the race again when Star Sports replays it tomorrow just to make sure.

Vettel in post race interview said the KERS worked for last three laps. It also worked during the race as the pits communicated to him on how much to use and when. My guess is they have a small unit that takes longer to recharge and cool down for usage. They have a KERS but it's not very efficient.

Never mind about the replay just read the transcript on the post race interview and here a quote from Vettel.

"On top of that we had sometimes KERS on, sometimes KERS off." There's the answer. Red Bull used KERS in the race.

That's not conclusive enough to ascertain that they had it especially in the closing stages. Plus, I still have my doubts as I'm replaying it from my dvr.

nifty. seb had kers from thew start, but at about half distance he was told not to use it, as it was oerheating, he was instructed over the radio, to switch it off and go to different driving style. with about three laps to go, he was told he could use it, presumably to ensure that lulu did not get too close.

Vettel had KERS but had problems throughout the race.

At times he was instructed not to use it at all, at other times he was given variations in the settings to use so as to get some benefit and/or avoid it causing problems.

Much of the last 10 laps he was told NOT to use it at all but was given permission to use it for the last three.

The above are facts from the race which some research or watching the race will prove out.

The opinion bit- Vettels tires were in slightly worse shape than Hamiltons it seemed and with ten to go it seemed sure that Hamilton would get by.
The extra downforce of the RBR allows more throttle coming out of a corner though, and that was just barely enough for Vettel to hold Hamilton behind him until Hamilton's tires started to go with about 5 laps to go.

Until Vettel was able to use KERS again it STILL seemed likely that the McLaren would be able to get by but once Seb got KERS back with 3 laps to go-
Yeah, Hamilton did a great job but Vettel drove brill

@ Richard. yes i did understand the rules, no problem there. however as in all of these incidents where there is no real problem it is very frustrating for races to be decided after the cars are off track. Thoroughly enjoyed the race. Alonso's banzia start was mega and Sebs control under pressure more than impressive. At this moment we are witnessing some truly great drivers on circuit. Roll on Monaco........Does anyone agree with me that these guys would all out perform most of the past generations bar a few.......?javascript:insertTextCursor('comment',%20':p')

Here is the quote from James Allen: "Saw his run of five consecutive pole positions come to an end when teammate Webber pipped him by 2/10ths in qualifying. Jumped the Australian at the start but lost the lead to a fast starting Alonso. But a superior strategy got him ahead of race leader Alonso at the second stops. Despite no KERS he held off a late charge from Hamilton to secure his fourth victory in five races this season" Can somebody refer me to a source that would say otherwise. Again I don't want to here your personal take on what transpired in the cockpit.

Reporters are OFTEN wrong as well as internet racing sites. What I am quoting comes directly out of VETTEL'S mouth in the post race interview. The race is being re broadcast again on speed tv as we speak. Wait and you can hear Vettel correct your issues. It came from the drivers mouth or do you need more evidence.
