Sauber: “There is no indication at the moment from the data we have seen that there was a problem with the car. But we have to talk to Sergio to investigate further what happened.”

He could have missed the rest of his life, its about time this circuit is taken off the calender, its only by good fortune that nobody has died here, how many cars have we seen loose it coming down that hill from the tunnel.

This is one of the most exciting races of the season for the fans AND the drivers.
Monaco is the heart of F1, it pushes the driver to his best potential and tests the drivers skills more than the cars.
This is one of the reasons why the drivers love it so much.
It's motor racing people there's always going to be danger and injuries. They don't get made to do it, they know the dangers and take the risks off their own backs.

There's been 4 crashes at that corner/bump this weekend already, all virtually identical (Liuzzi, Petrov, Rosberg, and Perez). They either need to resurface it properly to get rid of the bumps, or do something about the barrier that Perez hit. Preferably both.

The bumps have always been on that brow though, David Coulthard had an identical crash there years ago. It's down to how the driver's have their car set up they even said that during the programme. It's down to the driver to put extra thought into his setup.

Why fix something that isn't broken.

They should replace the chicane after the tunnel with a wall. That would ensure drivers would need to take it slower thru the tunnel and not anticipate cutting the corner.

It seemed to me from the video that the car understeered towards the middle of the tunnel probably due to bottoming unloading the front tyres which is why he came out of the tunnel wide and not in a normal racing line and once he went over the brow he lost the rear causing him to crash into the side barrier and away he went. Lucky and unlucky cause he was going well.

Monaco is important to formula one everybody concerned loves it because of its importance mostly glamour and money but as concerns an FI car race (track) counting for the constructors and drivers championship it is a total joke.
