F1 » Alonso: Not possible to catch Vettel now

Fernando Alonso has not exactly given up hope of a third F1 world title in 2011, but amdits that it will be hard for anyone to stop Sebastian Vettel.

It seems to me that reliability issues are not really a problem for any of the leading teams this year ... haven't seem an engine blow up yet this year ... I am afraid that unless Red Bull have some serious reliability issues then this season is done.

can that black guy - what's sis name barge his way in there and win the title still. Had a fantastic drive in Mono - such a pity all these other drivers kept driving into him and all the bad luck around him and the stewards just wouldn't stop picking on the poor poor sole. So sad, really when you have all this passion and self loving and just want to share it... and all just pick on you. Anyway my moneys on Vodacoms #1 driver can do can he not - the Godly guy...

Alonso has right to compare this situation to the one in 2009 and Jenson Button. After winning six races out of seven Button failed to win another oneand his best result after that was a second place in Italy.Even so he won the title comfortable ahead of Vettel.I guess that Red Bull is more prepared than was Brawn GP in 2009 and Vettel will win again this year and many races I think, like Schumacher did in 2002 or 2004.The only hope is that the FIA takes out of rule the blown exhausts like they did in 2006 with Renault's mass damper.I am surprised looking how the dominance of the two most experienced teams(Ferrari and McLaren) is challenged by Renault,Brawn-Mercedes and Red Bull in the last six races.

It will be very hard for Alonso to catch Vettel but there are three very good drivers who are closer and have much better cars that still have a good chance.

That said, I do think he will be tough to catch but I wouldn't rule the others out yet...

Alonso- yeah, pretty much over for him probably.
If anything he will be helping Vettel win it the way he gets a good start and then holds up the cars with a faster race pace.

Gap is too big. If Vettel wins more races in the coming weeks, might as well start planning for 2012. It won't be long til Ferrari and McLaren will write off 2011.
