F1 » Brawn vows 'excellent' Mercedes in 2012; Rosberg ready to commit?

As speculation links him tentatively to Ferrari for next year, Ross Brawn has made a play to secure Nico Rosberg's services at Mercedes Grand Prix long-term with the promise of 'an excellent car' in 2012

I am sure that last year Ross Brawn was saying the same thing about this years car. All that I can say is rather keep quiet and show us what you mean on the track. This constant disappointment is annoying.

mike , agreed. for two years the same comment has been made, and to no avail! but then again, i am sure that williams, force india, both lotii, ferrari et all, will and can make the exact same comment!

Look at those 3 Amigo's standing there, the one with the glass is saying to the one in the middle "how are we going to get out of this mess",and the one on the left is saying "don't ask as i have no idea"?.Use your brain and brawn Ross and get this years car sorted before you even start to worry about next years.

@MikeG - Agreed, my first reaction to Brawn's recent comment was "didn't we hear this last year?". Anyway, if Rosberg commits to Mercedes, that potentially gives Webber very little competition for Massa's Ferrari seat, should his contract be terminated. I don't usually delve in silly-season team swap rumours, but that's one to think about in my opinion.

The 2011 car was supposed to be excellent.

Some of the merc board members must be going bananas, it's not really improving the merc image is it ?

Next year will be last chance saloon for Merc.

A bunch of suits in an office block somewhere are controlling the purse strings and making a bunch of very talented people look stupid.

Another crap year and the suits will pull the plug.

Merc has to be the biggest failure on the grid. At least every other team is more or less where they said they would be at some point but was this not the year when Merc were going to challenge Red Bull? They're not even in the same post code at most races!

Ross,I would rather hear the news from Schumi,at least he speaks the truth as he did earlier this year when he said "the 2011 car was NOT a WDC car!"
The fans are solid(well I am anyway)but we need something,a result, anything! with meat on the bones!

duke. i agree with you about brawn. but as he has sold the team to merc, he now relies on them for a job. of course he is going to curry favour with them and talk up "next years car". he did the same in 2010, so getting merc to give him millions for a pig in a poke!
schumi is nearly as bad. remember all his comments about how he would be challenging for the wdc?
but i suppose that eery driver and eery team does the same.

Ross relies on Merc for a job?????? He made 110million off of them. He doesn't need a job. He needs to be shown the door. Merc under his direction hasn't even been able to emulate anything from the Red Bull. Ross nearly burned down the car trying to emulate the EBD. My guess is that Ross pushed for the ban on EBD in hopes of gaining anything on the field. They are just a step ahead of the second tier.
