F1 » Button: If we can qualify better, we can dictate race pace

If McLaren-Mercedes can just get on terms with Red Bull Racing in qualifying in F1 2011, then the face of the world championship battle could finally start to turn, predicts a bullish Jenson Button

Vettel now has a cushion of three races where he can dnf, and still possibly be leading in the standings, with red bull able to use drs freely in qualifying, the chances of both mclarens, both ferraris and mark webber beating vettel in qualifying and then the race seem pretty slim, it shoudnt be a suprise to anyone if red bull turn up and take pole and the race, the battle to challenge the champion though is hotting up, cant wait for this one.

Jenson was so unlucky in Monaco, he could (should) have took victory but for that pit stop and even then he looked in good shape before the safety car. Thats racing though and Jenson knows it. He looked really fired up for Monaco though and I hope it continues for the rest of the season. Class act.

I had hoped that Button would not follow the path chosen by Hamilton. Continually claiming that they are closing on Red Bull is not the same as actually doing it. As has already been pointed out Vettel is three races clear of the field. Even if McClaren are competitive, Vettel is not going to be uncompetitive all of a sudden. Even less chance that he will crash or have a failure. Hopefully to put it all in perspective we will see the front of the grid close up and some really close racing. Let's look forward to a close hard faught race with a really close finish.

As I wrote on the lulu page any one of the four “lulu/FA/JB/MW” winning the next two races will also need the other three to finish in front of SV as otherwise pending a total disaster for SV all four can say by by to the championship.

Rob, we real F1 fans will never stop watching no matter what and I believe you agree but not only I stand with what I wrote I will go as far as to say pending a disaster for SV/RBR if the next two races goes his way “and not necessarily fully at that” they “lulu/FA/JB/MW” can safely give up hope on the championship.
